Scattergories Type Game – Using “Autumn” as your overall theme, give students a list of ten general topics.Use words from the list to create riddles for your students to solve, or use the words for a quick game of hangman (or whatever you call it). ![]() This could be either a descriptive essay or a quick, timed-writing or writing fluency activity. Autumn Descriptive Writing – Given a selection of common autumn words, students write about autumn or Thanksgiving using all of the words.Or use the words from this list to make your own word search puzzle, the kind kids always seem to love where they hunt for the words in a big square of letters. At the end, combine students’ lists for a nice, big class list of autumn words. Word Search Two Ways – Students search in newspapers, class literature books, or other sources for autumn-related words to create their own list.This can be a silly writing assignment for small groups to work on together. Funny Autumn Themes – Students combine any two words from the list to create either a character or a theme that they will then use in a story.Its all about alliteration today Alliteration and a FREE.
